Somewhere you can belong

“Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!” Psalm 95: 6-7, The Bible (New Living Translation)

It is not always easy to find a space where you can be who you are.
Expectations and demands from others can stretch us by far.
Love and acceptance can bring life-changing moments every day.
We can do the same for others too to bring new hope their way.

This scripture reminds us that there is a space where there is room.
God has a place for us if we turn to him so his divine plans he can resume.
As he loves us and develops us, he watches over us with detail and care.
If we follow his guidance and do what it's in our hearts, he will always be there.

Family

"That's plain enough, isn't it? You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here [in God's family]*, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone." Ephesians 2:19, The Bible (The Message Version), *Added from the New Living Translation Version for clarity).

They say that you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family.
Sadly, some of us experience life asking "Why are they related to me?"
Sometimes "so-called" family can hurt us, isolate us and cause us pain.
Some never recover from poor treatment, others elope - never to be seen again.

This scripture reminds us that there is a family where we can belong.
They have their human flaws too, but God helps us to get along.
We don't have to keep searching for a space to flourish and to be free.
God is waiting to bless us with his family - there is no place I'd rather be.

Acceptance

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galations 3:28, The Bible (New King James Version)

Each day we live lives that require us to be accepted in some shape or form.
We desire acceptance in relationships, at work...to be accepted should be the norm.
Sadly, people and the world have created ways for us to dissect who we are.
Acceptance has to be earned, purchased or traded to survive or to be a Star.

This scripture reminds us that all people are accepted as one under Jesus the Son.
God doesn't use tick boxes or to pick away at who we are for cruel fun.
In God's eyes, we have purpose, unique talents and things that only we can do.
If you don't feel accepted by others, be reminded that Jesus has room for you.

Believe

"Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent." John 6:29, The Bible (New Living Translation)

Believing in something or someone that you cannot see can be hard.
We tend to only believe in what we can see and all else we disregard.
With belief you give yourself permission to have a vision for something great.
Belief can be the anchor that grounds you - no matter how long the wait.

This scripture reminds us that God desires us to believe in Jesus his Son.
The next step to changing our lives is to believe that belief and faith are one.
Having belief can carry us through the times when things don't look good.
By believing, all things will turn out the best - in the exact way that it should.
