He Said, She Said...

"This is what God wants. When you do right, you stop foolish men from saying bad things." 1 Peter 2:15, The Bible (New Life Version)

It is easy to follow the crowd or to live in the way that people want us to.
But there is an ideal way that we can live without having to compromise what is true.
People watch how we live all the time to see what they can say or do to bring us down.
They begin the "He Said, She Said" trail of lies causing us to feel hurt and to frown.

This scripture reminds us that God desires the best for us so he offers us some instruction.
He knows the hearts of people and the things they plot to bring others destruction.
If we make a decision to take up God's advice and live well in the way he has planned.
Nasty people will be silenced when they tell lies abou you because God is there on hand.

Pampering through Prayer

"...since the day we heard about you, we have continued praying for you, asking God that you will know fully what he wants. We pray that you will also have great wisdom and understanding in spiritual things." Colossians 1:9, The Bible (New Century Version)

There are many things to deal with in life and it can be nice to get a helping hand.
Sometimes practical help is the answer rather than burying our heads in the sand.
At other times we need invisible help when others secretly wish us well as they pray.
It can make the difference between wanting to give up or having a wonderful day.

This scripture reminds us that we should think of others and pray for them too.
We don't have to be priests, bishops or popes; just asking God to take care will do.
People may be smiling on the outside when inside they are secretly screaming for help.
We can pamper people through prayer and this will silence their desparate, internal yelp.

Settling the Score

"Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18, The Bible (New International Version)

There are times when we find ourselves in situations where the truth must be told.
People come with stories of fake claims and promises that they have sold.
Before we get a chance to present the truth, it seems the lies grow even more.
It can be tempting to take things into our own hands and try to settle the score.

This scripture reminds us that God enjoys settling scores - not in the way we may think.
God desires that we benefit from a new start and to bring us back from the brink.
God knows that the things we do we don't always mean, but he desires that we confess.
He there's waiting to wipe the slate clean and to make something great out of life's mess.

It's not all about you...

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2, The Bible (New International Version)

Being wrapped up in the activity of our own lives can cause us to ignore others.
We don't always take note of things around us or some of the stories the media covers.
However, taking time to remember we are all connected somehow is a worthy cause.
It is important for us to think about others and to make time to reflect and to pause.

This scripture reminds us that God desires for us to take time out to be still and pray.
We don't have to be priests or theologians to ask for enough grace to help others today.
Understanding that there is a time to think of ourselves should help us think of others too.
We can help others by sharing and giving thanks to show that it's not all about you.
